A great short video, too bad it wasn’t an independant film and was a comercial but great message you put with it. The thing I love was there were stairs right next to the esclator and it gave you just the right amount of time to guess that the second one would stop as well.
This reminds me of when natural disasters hit hard. Some people roll up their sleaves and get to work to bring back their community from utter ruin, but there are some who just wait, they are snowed by the idea that the government is there to bring it back for them. But who is the government? We are, and ultimatly we are responcible for our communities are we not? So let those sleeves roll high and dig in, there is always a lot of work to be done.

The video was great! I’d like to show it at work. I have a job where it’s vital that everyone takes action immediately when something goes wrong. We have frequent drills to make sure we understand what to do.
It’s not enough to just KNOW what to do, though. We also need to DO it!
If we all just looked at those around us, how hard would it be to find a little something we could do to help someone? A small act can make the world a better place for a neighbor in need.
That is hilarious! Very creative ad. Thanks for sharing
Sometimes we get so consumed by the frustrations of the moment we do not see the big picture. The solution usually lies right in front of us but we choose to hold onto our anger, our hurt, our grudges, our worries and troubles as if they were our best friends and we couldn’t live without them.
I know people who have carried hatred in their souls for so long they cannot tell me why they hate that other person – but they refuse to let it go. Just like someone who stubbornly refuses to move forward on their own – they refuse to step out of the box of prejudice they have placed themselves in. Anger, Racism, Sexism, Prejudice, wounded pride…some people would rather whither away inside themselves than ever let it go and rise above it! I have two co-workers who have decided that they hate each other. Once peaceful, our office is now a “war zone”. They constantly undermine each other to prove that they are the better employee and the other is an idiot. They are always on the lookout for new recruits – and actively try to get the others in the office “on their side”. Their war of words and wills has started to seep out into the entire office like a virus. Neither one of them remembers why or how it all started. But neither one of them is willing to stop the battle, apologize and let it go. They are not only harming each other and themselves, now, just like this clip shows – the people who once were coming to help fix the problem are actually being sucked into it!
I wonder if one of the great messages of this drama is that we forget our own power we have inside to effect the world. We have the power to let old ideas go and accept change. But we also have the power to stubbornly dig a trench and climb into it. It is too easy, like the maintenance man, to give up just like all the others are we see around us. The most powerful people in the world are the ones who refuse to see things the way they have always been seen. They refuse to judge people on the same criteria as has been done in the past. They refuse to listen to negative rumors and slurs. They take nothing on face value. They rise above it all and look with “new eyes”. These are the ones who find the truth.
The truth seekers create new inventions, solve problems and negotiate peaceful solutions. They break down barriers that everyone else said could never be done – but the truth seekers did it because they refused to see the barrier in the first place.
If more countries and races, politicians and religious groups, co-workers and human beings chose to take this to heart, what a world we could live in! All of us can choose to make the difference. We can automatically believe the best in others, give the benefit of the doubt, never jump to conclusions without careful consideration of all angles and refuse to spread gossip. We can choose to be a truth seeker instead of a hate gatherer. The more of us who make these choices, the more global healing will take place. We must seek the truth in each situation, because we have been promised it is only the truth that sets us free.
Obviously, I am not the target audience. What kind of wouldn’t just walk up the now-stopped stairs? Um, hello? Common sense? It is sad that, as a country, we can make a commercial like this and find that it is actually meaningful to an audience.
I take it figuratively when it comes to the stairs/esclator thing. However when it comes to many other things in life especially Cars, Home appliances, Computers, Cable/Satilite equipment people oftern refer to some other guy who should know better then them and waith for it to get fixed. I take it as a blessing of the poor that they learn how to fix these things or learn to do without. The dryer breaks they string out a line for clothes. The car needs a part swaped they get out the greese-monkey tools and pull the part find a replacement on the cheep and stick it in. Dirty difficult labor? Yes, but rewarding in knowledge and the bank account. Why do we always have to wait for others to help us when we can help not only ourselves but others as well.
If the video continued another repair guy would walk in but could not get to the tools the first one had because they are stuck on the esclator with the other repair guy.
The second repair guy would use the stairs instead but without the tools could not accually get the mechinism working again. he would converse the perdicument with the first repair guy within inches but they would still be unable to pass the tools over and complain about not being able to give over the tools to fix the problem.
Common sense in no longer common.

Sometimes a rediculous example, with a bit of humor, is the best way to teach a principle.
